How about a ride in the mountains tomorrow? I've rented a Specialized Turbo Levo pedal assist bike and I'm anxious to give it a good workout tomorrow. Either the Cuyamacas or the Lagunas would be fine with me. And I can drive 3 + me.
Let me know if you can make it.

Sounds like a setup- aren't the mountains going to be muddy - we frantically pedal to get through it, and the RM pedals (with a wry grin on his face) comfortably like he's in first gear and roll throughs it at 20MPH, 15MPH on the uphills ... You may not have considered, nobody will be around to take pics of your epic ride as they wallow in the mud. Although if you bring your yoga mat, you can take a nap waiting for us.
OK, I'll admit I have thought
OK, I'll admit I have thought how nice it would be to not bring up the rear on every ride However, I don't wish to ride in the mud either. Does anyone know about the trail conditions? I've never been able to reach a ranger or find any current information on the websites.
If anyone knows anything about mountain conditions, please post a message.

Hmmmmm...I fear it will be poor conditions in the moutains. They got a lot more rain than we did. I actually rode at Vail Lake on Thursday which was good and dry but had a lot of obvious trail damage from the rains in places. You couldn't even ride to the lake because the access road had collapsed into a giant sink hole. Also I could see there is still a LOT of snow in the San Bernardino Mts, San Jacinto, etc. A good place to try out the Levo might be in the new north Mission Trails area, known officially as "West Sycamore" There is a combination of fireroad and singletrack that would work I think and there aren't too many people there (like Penasquitos) We could start at the parking lot at the end of Stonebridge Parkway. Can I try the Levo ?????
Of course you can try it out

Can you post some general directions to the trailhead?

OK. I have not accessed the
OK. I have not accessed the area by this entrance before but I think this is correct: from the north: heading south on 15, take Scripps Poway Parkway east to Pomerado Rd. Go right (south) on Pomerado to Stonebridge Parkway and take that left (east) to its end which should be a trailhead for West Sycamore
From the south, heading north on 15, take Pomerado Rd northeast until it intersects with Stonebridge Parkway, take a right (east) to the end..the trailhead.
From the north, after you leave 15, it is about 4 miles out Scripps Poway Parkway to Pomerado, then 1/2 mile or so to Stonebridge. From the south, after you leave 15, it is about 4 miles out Pomerado before you get to Stonebridge.
Thanks Julie. See you all at
