Here's an email I got from Guy Ravad about a week ago:
The California Game wardens are patrolling all of the Del Mar Mesa now.
The only way though without the possibility of a citation is on the main fire road. The wardens are actively patrolling outside of the fence areas.
There were quite a few citations given over the weekend to all users, hikers and bikers alike. Nobody is immune. Please spread the word to folks who do not use the boards. No need to make mandatory donation to the state coffers.
Maybe this gets enough folks outside of our small world interested in moving the trails plan along and improved over the original plan?
Looks like Penasquitos isn't much of an option at this time.

Sounds as though that is referring to Tunnels and the singletracks on that Mesa...and that only the fireroads are legal to ride there...which is what the sign at the entrance has been saying for years. The rest of Penasquitos should be fine...not that I'm set on riding there !
