So far this week we (I) have done:
Idaho
Day 1 Forbidden Fruit and Eve's Gulch 18 miles
Day 2 South Fork of Warm Springs and Red Warrior 23 miles
Day 3 Curleys 7 miles
Day 4 Osberg's Ridgeline 26 miles
Day 5 Punchline and Centerline etc ~14 miles
Day 6 Cold Springs trail and Warm Springs trail 22 miles
Utah
Day 7 McCoy Flats - Fire Sale and Retail Sale 12 miles
Colorado
Day 7 Prime Cut and Zippity Do Dah 11 miles
Maybe tomorrow is Westwater Rim trail.
I'll be a no-show tomorrow my friends... going to the Yacht Club with the family to play in the sand. Here's what I sent Jerry earlier today:
Alberto and I tooled out with the B's today with Jason as ride leader. Kinda' misty and damp to start. Maybe about 20 riders.
Easy pace up Vista Sorrento, thankfully. Once on El Camino Real, however, the pace picked up. 20-21. Thank goodness for the stop lights or some of us would have been dropped. We hit lots of lights today - just one of those days.... Last pace line with Jason on San dieguito was quite good. 24-25 pace, smooth and steady.
When we got to four corners after stud loop, there were a lot of riders already there. We wondered, what's up? We saw CaliMex riders and others including Tamara with a woman and two large black riders. Someone said "you know that's Barry Bonds, right?" Sure enough it was Barry riding with a friend, his girlfriend, who I understand is an olympic rider,Tamara and others.
Jason led us off and they followed. Now our group was more like 80..... Quite a train. We had a lousy La Costa ride; never got organized and speed was slow. The Calimex riders stayed with us until we got to the coast and they went North. Meanwhile Bonds and friends stayed with us as we started pushing it on the coast.
When we got closer to the Cardiff Kook, Barry took off and I jumped on his back wheel; we passed everyone and I was lovin' hanging on his wheel at 34. Suddenly, he pulled over and left me hangin' in the wind to pull.... Crap. so pull I did. But not very long as I was nearly out of gas. I made it past the restaurants before I died.
Barry joined us all at Java which we reached at 10:30 with an average on my GPS of 18.8. Costco Dave had 20. Pretty good pace. Didn't stick around long as Steve Fox and I wanted to get rollin'.... when we left Barry was talking with folks and having a good time.
I was able to Del Dios today, road some with Hank Aaron and WIllie Mays, but they were pretty slow (they were never into the roids), but tomorrow, I'm back to digging holes and planting trees starting early- this should be it... Enjoy your ride
Cannot go today...achilles is acting up again and have a hand injury (Jer, from when I fell over from a complete stop).
Marc, I will try your Ripley sometime as the insurance money is in the mail.
