I realize it's kinda wimpy, but it is predicted to be cool and possibly (30% chance) raining. So I think I'll take a pass and do some other chores.

Cool, 30% chance of rain! Who would think of riding in conditions like that?
Carrizo Gorge is a beautiful ride. The riding is not technical or even single track (be prepared to bump along on the railway bed and some may even walk their bikes across a couple of the bridges) so it's about the scenery and the tunnels. You'll all need lights on your bikes as the tunnels are quite long.
