I talked to Julie about going out to Santa Ysabel Preserve for our ride tomorrow to get some climbing miles in as a part of our rigorous pre-Camino training. But we could do something more local if we can't get good participation for the ride. Next weekend will be warmer and closer to "normal" weather conditions.
I'm going to be up in the OC on Sunday for our granddaughter's volley ball tournament and a birthday celebration. So you won't have me to kick around anymore (just Sunday).
I also have it on good authority that Julie will be in Arizona for a few days.
So, for the rest of you, I hope you can get a ride scheduled. The weather is supposed to be nice, but turning much cooler mid-week. So it may be a good idea to get out and enjoy some spring weather.
Hello everyone. I've got a couple of good ideas for tomorrow morning:
1. Pamo Valley/Orosco. We could ride the new hiking trail out and back. Then we could do the Forest Road that we normally return on when we do the Orosco Ridge ride. This would be an out and back as well. Depending on how far we go out, this could be a 15-20 mile ride. It will be warm, but not above the low 70s during the ride.
So we may still be a little short on riders tomorrow, as I think both Jerry and Alan are under the weather. But Julie and I would like to go back to Pamo Valley and ride on the east side of Pamo Valley Road. First we'll do that nice section of single track/hiking trail that was just added a few years ago. Then, we'll head up the Upper Santa Ysabel Truck Trail and see how that goes. We will probably ride for 15-20 miles and climb 2000-2500 feet. We'll start at the usual dirt parking lot at 8:30. Please let me know if you can join us.
I'm thinking the only riders for tomorrow are Marc and Julie, all the rest of our group is hiding out somewhere with a myriad of excuses. In case I'm wrong, Julie and I are going to meet in Pamo Valley tomorrow at the Orosco Ridge trailhead at 8:30. We're hoping to successfully navigate the Black Canyon area on the east side of Pamo Valley. It should be 77 degrees tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to some warm spring weather and not getting lost. Enjoy your day, whatever you plan to do.
The weather should be nice for a ride tomorrow, but the ground is still saturated from all the rain and probably muddy in most areas. So, I’m thinking Raptor Ridge is our best bet for a non-muddy ride tomorrow. As a number of us know from last Sunday’s ride v in Santee it can be really muddy and awful in some locations. If there’s another good ride location that I’m overlooking please speak up asap!
Looks like it will be beautiful tomorrow, but many areas will still be wet and muddy. So I’m proposing that we ride either Raptor Ridge or Fanita Pkwy/Sycamore for tomorrow Julie is in DC and Colin is in Oz, so I’m not sure how big our group will be. If you plan to join the ride and have a preference of a location, please respond as early as possible.
