I'd like to ride but I think The Beast is on Marine land...as is the fireroad section at the top of Cooper's Canyon. I will email you a map I have seen with the base boundaries and the trails on it.
Yikes! After viewing the map with the military base borders on it, maybe we should just meet at Filippi's and take a couple of laps around the parking lot before ordering pizza and beer!
Or, we could ride Sycamore east and enter through that neighborhood on the east side of Santee Lakes.
Julie, can you suggest a meeting/parking location near that entry point?
Check out the video on the latest SDMBA email if you REALLY want to be depressed. He is saying we should stay off of EVERYTHING north of 52...and even refers to Candygram, etc as "private property"...but is less firm about not riding in that area overall...that is...no bikes are being confiscated from "private property" yet.
Here are the directions from the (former) Fox group to the start in East Sycamore.
52 East to Mast Blvd
East on Mast and left on Fanita Pkwy (Just East of Santee Lakes Bridge)
Right on Ganley Rd
Park at the Dead end of the street and we will catch the trail to Blazing Saddles right there. It’s a short Hike a Bike up to the trail instead of riding through the Neigborhood…
Somehow I think there must be another L turn off Ganley toward the open area that includes Blazing Saddles that he doesn't mention. I think it is pretty obvious tho and only a short distance to the fenced dead end. There is a break in the fence you can walk through to access the trails.
I'll be there. Another thought is that a fellow from SDBC told me he uses a trailhead at the end of Cayumaca. He said there is a trail called Artichoke that starts there.
